Bonfire Night!

With evenings starting to get darker, and mornings getting cooler, we are gradually getting to the dreaded Bonfire Night, when some dogs spend their days and night terrified of fireworks.  At Oakley's we don't like to see our doggie friends frightened, so we are planning to have some 'It's Really Not Bonfire Night' evenings for you to leave your dog with us, away from all the scary fireworks, bangs and flashes.  We will make the evening fun and entertaining for the dogs, and they won't be able to see any fireworks lighting up  the sky, and will be playing games and gentle music that will distract them from any noises that might happen far away from us.  All this too in a safe environment where they cannot escape outside.

Depending on demand, we will offer this service during the evenings around November 5th, from early evening until late.  For further details or to make a booking, please email us on enquiries@oakleydogs.co.uk

Here at Oakley's we are now taking applications to join our new training courses.  We are going to offer something that all the family can get involved with, and are going to hold courses where youngsters can learn not only how to look after their dogs, but also how to train them, and maybe do some tricks too!

We will have 2 sessions for different age groups - the first being aged 8 to 11 year olds, and the second aged 12 to 18.  We hope that all young people will be able to interact with more confidence with their pets, and we will develop these courses to reflect the types of training that our young people want to do with their pets.

Alongside this we will be offering our Puppy classes and also are hoping to offer the full range of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Award.

If you wish to find out more about our courses, or put your name down for one, please email us on training@oakleydogs.co.uk

Yesterday was our Grand Opening Launch, and a great day was had by all!  We had a whole variety of dogs, from a tiny Westie, to a Labradoodle, and the dogs had a great time, even though it meant that they had to stay on the lead for their stay.  Of course, if they come for a proper day they will be introduced to the pack on a one-to-one, but we did have too many visitors to be able to do that yesterday.

Grand Opening Launch Day!

Although we have been open for a few days now, we are having a big celebration to let people look round our premises, talk to us about what services we can provide, and have some fun too!  We will be having visits during the day from our dog grooming friends, Dog and Groom, our canine nutritional expert friend, Tristan from the Real Dog Company, Jazzie our favourite PAT dog, and lots of other doggie-minded people!

We hope to have something for everyone there, advice from our canine behaviourist Aimee and her colleague Amanda for any problems you may have with your own dog, a photographer to take your dog's photo, competitions for the kids and dogs to have a go at - with prizes! - and refreshments, including a glass of wine for the adults and juice for the kids!

For the dogs, there will be a competition for the Longest Sit, and also for the speedy ones, the Quickest Recall.  There will also be a Lucky Dip for dogs too!  The kids can have a go at our Junior Handler competition as well, and we will also be announcing our Dog Training Club which launches soon!
